DDT Era G☆L Translations

This is a compilation of unofficial translations of various early blog entries and other reports chronicling the journeys of Ibushi and Kenny in DDT, New Japan and other promotions from January 2008 onward. I know there are a few translations floating around out there, but from my understanding most are either machine translations or based on machine translations, and I wanted to have them all neatly in one place anyway, so I have taken the liberty of translating them myself.

The entries are in chronological order. They will be mainly but not exclusively from Takagi Sanshirô (president and CEO of CyberFight, who own DDT), Nakazawa Michael (former DDT wrestler and close friend of Kenny’s), m-drop (Manhattan Drop, responsible for getting Kenny into DDT), Matsui Yukinori (referee in DDT), extremeparty and griffon591 (both avid wrestling watchers and indie super fans).

In some instances, I have chosen parts to translate instead of the whole thing for various reasons (mostly irrelevance to the Kenny and Ibushi stories). I also don’t have every picture here, especially for griffon and extremeparty reports, which are often quite long and detailed. Check the original URL below each post for the full experience.

ABOUT THE NAMES: I will be transcribing the Japanese names in the Japanese order (last name first, given name second). It’s just too much of a hassle at this point to work against my year-long muscle memory while translating. I will also be a Hepburn-nerd and transcribe long vowels. Get used to reading Ibushi Kôta a bunch.

Credit for digging many of these up and gathering them in the first place goes to cringekingsmashko. Many thanks to her for doing the work and giving me permission to use her posts as a guide for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 parts.

Special thanks to extremeparty and griffon for giving me permission to having their invaluable work shared, and Rin for helping me with some of the translations.

Ultra special thanks goes to my selfless and hard-working editors, Kay and LPK, without whom this would not be possible.

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
